Request For Proposal for an Assessment Administration and CAMA System(s)

On May 19, 2005, the Lafayette Parish Assessor’s Office issued a Request For Proposal for an Assessment Administration and Computer Assisted Mass Appraisal (CAMA) System. The current assessment system was developed 20 years ago by City of Lafayette computer programmers. Making changes to this system was very difficult and time consuming. For this reason, the system was not regularly updated to keep pace with the changes in the assessment field. Much of the data in the assessor’s office is still on paper and not on computer. This causes the reassessment process to extend over 7 months and makes complete data analysis next to impossible to perform.

Purchasing a new packaged software system is less expensive than reprogramming the current database or building a new system in house. The new system will ensure more fairness and accuracy in assessments, will decrease reassessment time from 7 months to 1 month, and will allow thorough analysis of all of the data. The system is projected to be installed and operating by May 2007.
