Louisiana voters approved three and rejected two of the five constitutional amendments related to ad valorem taxation on the November 3 ballot.
Throughout the election season, our office shared resources to help taxpayers understand these proposals. Following the election, we’ve prepared a summary showing which amendments passed, which were rejected, and what the results mean moving forward.
See the accompanying attached graphic for a quick overview of all five amendments.
For more information, explore our resources on each amendment:
• Amendment #1: The transfer of a disabled veteran surviving spouse exemption to a new homestead;
• Amendment #2: Allowing a taxing body to levy a lower millage rate, under certain circumstances;
• Amendment #6: An additional homestead exemption for qualifying Seniors 65+;
• Amendment #9: Increases income limit for the Special Assessment Level (property value "freeze"); and
• Amendment#10: An exemption for qualifying rehabilitated blighted or derelict properties.
